Training On any day you will find PNAHC members training
somewhere. If you look at the
tables below you will see the times and places you are most likely to find
people to train. Alternatively
you can ring any of the contacts to find out who is keen. As with any training session the more
the merrier. During Winter (Apr-Sep)
we have a Tuesday “threshold run” at Cross Country Season (Apr – Sep)
The long Sunday run is also a tradition usually over the
famous “Dam Block” which is a 20km
loop back to the athletics track with one serious stretch of climbs to keep
you focused. Thursdays and
Saturdays are generally for track repetitions while Wednesdays are a long run
for the distance athletes and gym or track work for the sprinters. The one consistent theme to all of
these training sessions is the presence of coach George McConachy who
oversees all of the athletes. Track

McConachy BSc DipTchng George has coached athletes to 115 NZ titles in Horizontal Jumps, Sprints and Hurdles, Distance Running and Race Walks since 1982. He is an IAAF Coach Lecturer, ANZ Level III, AMW Coaching Co-ordinator and he is director of the Freyberg High School Sports Academy.

equally fortunate to have the services of Anne Thomson who is a Qualified
Athletics New Zealand Level II sprints, relays, hurdles and horizontal jumps
