Training

On any day you will find PNAHC members training somewhere.  If you look at the tables below you will see the times and places you are most likely to find people to train.  Alternatively you can ring any of the contacts to find out who is keen.  As with any training session the more the merrier.

During Winter (Apr-Sep) we have a Tuesday “threshold run” at Ongley Park kicking off at 4pm for the younger athletes while us working ones get there when we can.  In Summer Tuesday 5.45pm becomes Club Night at the Manawatu Community Athletics Track (MCAT).

The long Sunday run is also a tradition usually over the famous “Dam Block” which is a 20km loop back to the athletics track with one serious stretch of climbs to keep you focused.  Thursdays and Saturdays are generally for track repetitions while Wednesdays are a long run for the distance athletes and gym or track work for the sprinters.  The one consistent theme to all of these training sessions is the presence of coach George McConachy who oversees all of the athletes.
